Understanding Birth Trauma
Birth trauma is often under-discussed.
The term birth trauma refers to distress experienced during or after childbirth. Like a river carving through rock, these experiences can leave lasting impressions on a mother’s psyche, altering her landscape of emotions and perceptions. Importantly, trauma can vary widely, with some women experiencing profound impacts from events deemed routine or minor.
Birth trauma’s effects can manifest silently. It is essential to remember that this isn’t a phenomenon of weakness or failure—it’s a response to an overwhelming event.
Recognizing and validating these feelings, alongside engaging in talking therapy, provides the first step towards healing and hope.

My PTSD Journey
My journey began after the birth of my twin girls. The unexpected complications during their birth left a trail of upheaval and distress.
Despite this, I was determined to move forward and be a devoted mother to my girls. I attempted to overcome the persistent feelings of overwhelm and anxiety, often downplaying the entire ordeal. Comparing myself to others only heightened my sense of inadequacy and isolation, deepening my depression.
Eventually, this strategy failed, and my life began to spiral downward as panic attacks took over. I finally realized I could no longer dismiss these feelings and needed help.
I found an incredibly empathetic and supportive therapist who provided a safe and nurturing space through talking therapy, allowing me to take my time to begin healing. Even on days when all I could do was cry throughout our sessions, she praised my dedication to my healing journey, which made all the difference.
In the years that followed, driven by the need to understand how I had reached that point and how to overcome it, I immersed myself in the birthing world and the path of birth trauma recovery, eventually becoming a counselor.
Today, equipped with both academic and experiential knowledge, I proudly offer compassionate counselling to help others find their way through birth-related trauma. My dedication to supporting others has been a rewarding journey, where empathy, knowledge, and experience unite to illuminate the path to recovery.

Introduction to Doula Training
Embarking on my doula training was transformative, laying a solid foundation to support individuals through one of life’s most profound transitions. Immersing myself in the nuances of physiological childbirth, driven by my constant desire for knowledge, equipped me with the tools for empathetic understanding essential for support and healing.
This training developed my skills in compassionate communication, holistic care, wellness, and evidence-based knowledge, along with fostering a nurturing mentality, which I deem essential for supporting individuals through the perinatal period as a therapist.
